Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10

It should not be allowed to release so much great music in such a short timespan. It is though, and behold Aara pulling it off: casually releasing the most majestic trilogy I can recall in the span of three years, each release surpassing its predecessor. Nyx is the crown jewel of the saga, operating at breakneck speed with just a few moments of respite, yet still keeping the focus on the melody and Fluss' impeccable vocals as well as sporting a musical elegance untold. Magnifique!

I've never given this band the attention they deserve - maybe - or it is just that this album is offering quite a cleaner production? It's heavier, still melodic, a bit repetitive, but for some reasons I like it better than the previous releases of the Swedish duo. Their pedigree (and experience) is obviously speaking for itself, and I really enjoy this album's aggressiveness, no solos, fast and mid-tempos variations but trad Swedish BM vibe, the shrieks vocals. A solid one for Grafvitnir fans.
